Hello Everyone! For Week 9’s Technology Resource, I have decided to focus on ClassHook.

What Is ClassHook?

ClassHook is a video clip curation site. This site allows teachers to search for content from popular TV shows and movies to support instruction. Depending on the plan type, users can browse, save, and assign activities based on video clips. Videos can be filtered through certain criterias such as grade level (kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college), topic, genre, vocabulary, use of profanity, standards, and length (all clips are less than 10 minutes).

ClassHook was created by Joyce Ang and Alex Deeb, both Joyce and Alex felt that television programming has substantial educational value. Believing that educators can leverage the experiences of characters within beloved shows.

Key Features of ClassHook

ClassHook allows for teachers and educators to create a more in-depth/interactive experience for students through the use of modern media. While the pool for content is rather small, at only 4,000 videos, this site does allow teachers the ability to save time rather than having to sift through videos or even having to edit videos for relevant information.

Pros

Quality:Offers high-interest videos and links to standards.

Cons

Usability:It is not always easy to assess how relevant a video is to a topic or learning standard. Additionally, no filter for inappropriate material. Automatic profanity skipping is a premium account feature.

Data Privacy:Scores a 63% on CommonSense’s Data Privacy Evaluation

Final Thoughts

Offers decent supplemental support for learning, but be vigilant.

Hello Everyone! For Week 8’s Technology Resource, I have decided to focus on Copyright and Creativity. What Is C and C? The Creativity and Copyright Project (C and C) is a nonprofit organization developed by the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe) to help promote online safety. C and C offers curricula for students from K-12. The material created by Cand C aims to provide accessible and practical information about copyright, both protections and limitations, and its role in encouraging creativity. The end goal is to showcase how students can navigate and rely on copyright in their roles as creators rather than focusing on what it prohibits. Key Features of C and C: C and C offers lesson plans for K-12 students. These lesson plans include discussion questions, escape rooms, presentation supplies, activity breakdowns, quizzes, and video materials.
