Hello Everyone! For Week 5’s Technology Resource, I have decided to focus on Book Creator.

What Is Book Creator?

Book Creator is a digital book-making tool. This resource is available for both iPad and web use. Students are able to access this resource through a class library that is set up by teachers/educators. Any books created by students can be accessed by teachers and added to the class library to be shared with the rest of the class. Books created by students can be shared through email, AirDrop, Google Drive, Dropbox, printing, publishing to iBooks, etc.

Key Features of Book Creator:

Some key features of Book Creator have to do with the system accessibility and general layouts. Book Creator is available in 10 languages and browsers that support that language will automatically translate the site. Other means of accessibility are also present such as text-to-speech, closed captions, screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation and other support measures. This platform encompasses elements that also support remote learning through the accessibility of the same book across multiple devices.

Pros:

Supportive system accessibility: As mentioned this platform offers many supportive technologies and adaptability features that help support students in their learning.

Creativity: Book Creator offers a lot of different fun creative elements like over 50 hand-picked fonts to choose from, can add images or take your own photos (although no stock library to pull images from), can add in video or music, or even record your voice, can use the pen tool to draw or annotate, cam use shapes, icons, arrows and emojis to express ideas.

Teacher support: Book Creator offers many how-to-support to help show teachers and students how to navigate and use Book Creator, including example books, lesson plan ideas, trainings, and webinars.

Cons:

Not fully free: While the base of Book Creator is free, it has limited accessibility. This means some elements that may be beneficial to teachers and students are hidden behind a paywall subscription

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this resource is a great supplemental tool for students of any age that allows for them to test their abilities and publish their own digital books.

Hello Everyone! For Week 8’s Technology Resource, I have decided to focus on Copyright and Creativity. What Is C and C? The Creativity and Copyright Project (C and C) is a nonprofit organization developed by the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe) to help promote online safety. C and C offers curricula for students from K-12. The material created by Cand C aims to provide accessible and practical information about copyright, both protections and limitations, and its role in encouraging creativity. The end goal is to showcase how students can navigate and rely on copyright in their roles as creators rather than focusing on what it prohibits. Hello Everyone! For Week 9’s Technology Resource, I have decided to focus on ClassHook. What Is ClassHook? ClassHook is a video clip curation site. This site allows teachers to search for content from popular TV shows and movies to support instruction. Depending on the plan type, users can browse, save, and assign activities based on video clips. Videos can be filtered through certain criterias such as grade level (kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college), topic, genre, vocabulary, use of profanity, standards, and length (all clips are less than 10 minutes).
